How to use Google Sheets

Google Sheets is an online spreadsheet app that lets you create and format spreadsheets and work with other people.

Step 1: Create a spreadsheet​

To create a new spreadsheet:

  1. Open the Sheets home screen at sheets.google.com.
  2. Click New Plus. This will create and open your new spreadsheet.

Step 2: Edit and format a spreadsheet​

You can add, edit, or format text, numbers, or formulas in a spreadsheet.

Step 3: Share & work with others​

You can share files and folders with people and choose whether they can view, edit, or comment on them.

You can create, view, and edit Google spreadsheets, as well as Microsoft Excel® files, with the Google Sheets app for Android. Here are some things to help you use the Google Sheets app:

Step 1: Download the Google Sheets app​

  1. Open Google Sheets on the Play Store.
  2. Tap Install. The Google Sheets app will appear on your Home screen.

Step 2: Create or edit a spreadsheet​

Work with different file formats​

You can upload and download files with the Google Sheets app for Android.

  • Import: You can open and edit XLS, XLSX, XLSM, CSV, ODS, and TSV files.
  • Export: You can export as XLSX, ODS, PDF, and as a web page (HTML as a ZIP). You can also export a single sheet as a CSV or TSV file.

Step 3: Share & work with others​

You can share files and folders with people and choose whether they can view, edit, or comment on them.
